Klamath County Library to Offer Services for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing

The Library will now offer new videophone technology allowing the deaf and hard of hearing to contact hearing and non-hearing persons.

Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals have a new communication resource at the Klamath County Library. Sorenson Video Relay Service has installed a videophone station in the Genealogy department at the downtown library. The videophone allows callers to contact hearing and non-hearing persons through the internet while using a video camera for live visual images. Callers can contact an American Sign Language interpreter through the Sorenson service. The service acts like a payphone and cannot accept incoming calls without prior arrangements.

Patrons wishing to use the new videophone should check in at the reference information desk during open hours of the library:

  • Monday 10-5
  • Tuesday 10-8
  • Wednesday 1-8
  • Thursday 10-8
  • Friday 10-5
  • Saturday 10-5
  • Sunday 1-5

For more information please call the reference desk at 882-8897.
