On Saturday, July 26th the Klamath County Library hosted a celebration marking the beginning of construction on the 1200 foot addition to the Children’s area.

This new space will be lit by natural light from an atrium, and will provide additional room for story time and performances. The event was attended by over 50 well-wishers including Friends of the Library volunteers, commissioners John Elliot and Al Switzer, Library Foundation members and library supporters. Director Andy Swanson welcomed the group and Foundation Chairman Ken Wolfe described the fundraising and contributions that made the project possible. Three children dressed in Bob the Builder costumes began the excavation with kid-sized shovels to the delight of the crowd. Demolition and construction begin on Monday July 28, and are expected to be complete in January.
