Your Library Card

Getting a card, renewing materials, placing holds, etc.

Who can get a card

All residents of Klamath County may apply for a library card at the main library or any of our branch library locations. Click here to download the application. (.pdf file format)

How to Get Your Card

To apply you must provide picture identification and proof of current local address. If your photo identification does not show your address, you may bring in a utility bill, a bank statement, an insurance card, etc.. to show proof of residency.

Junior Library Cards

Children must have a parent's or guardian's signature on their application for the card. If the parent or guardian signs the application in front of library staff, the child's card will be a normal card, able to check-out up to 30 items. If the responsible adult mails the signed card application in, or for some reason does not sign the application in front of  library staff, the child will be issued a limited card and only permitted to check-out two items.

Borrowing Limits

You may check-out two items on the day you apply for your card. Once you receive your card in the mail, you may check-out up to 30 items. There are limits on some types of items, 5 DVD's, 5 CD's, etc...

Placing Holds

You may place a request for any item within our system at the main library reference desk, at any of our branch locations, or online with your library card number and password.

Renewing Your Borrowed Items

Items may be renewed twice after the intial checkout unless there is a hold reqest on the item. (2 additional 3 week periods). Items may be renewed in person, or over the telephone. Items may also be renewed online for those patrons who have placed a password on their account. Please come to your library to receive a password.

Library Fines

Overdue items are charged .10 per day, per item. Lost books are charged late fees up to the price of the book in addition to replacement costs. For example, a book that costs $5.00 to replace would also be charged any late fees up to $5.00. Potentially, it could cost $10.00 total.
